August 8, birthday Amalia Catharina and Cécile Louise Stéphanie Chaminade

Amalia Catharina (8 August 1640 – 4 January 1697) was a German poetess and composer and Cécile Louise Stéphanie Chaminade (8 August 1857 – 13 April 1944) was a French composer and pianist.

Aside from the short Wikipedia entry above. I couldn’t find anything else about Amalia Catharina
nor any of her music to share with you.

With regards to finding performances of the music of Cécile Chaminade, we seem to have hit pay dirt. First, there’s one of her Opus 35 works, “Automne.” This youtube link has over 3 hours of piano music by her.

That’s too bad about a lack of Ms. Catharina’s music not having an online representative. Thank you for sharing what you do find, as always. Be well!

I’m going to let this run. Believe it or not, I recognise ‘Automne’ as reasonably well-known piece (no, not because of the melody’s opening phrase resembling that of ‘The Breeze and I’ or, more loosely, ‘Avalon’ played by Dooley Wilson).
